In conditions of occupational and environmental exposure, plant protection products may be the cause of health disorders in farmers and members of their families. Based on the relevant literature and many-year own clinical and experimental observations, the authors discuss and analyse the available knowledge concerning undesirable and sometimes intended consequences of the application of plant protection products in a human ecosystem. In summing up, the current methods of minimising health and environmental risk of the application of plant protection products are presented.
