Introduction:
Neuropsychological impairments which occur after a stroke significantly hinder the quality of a patient’s life. The purpose of neuropsychological rehabilitation is to enable them to regain independence by improving their cognitive and emotional state.

Objective:
This article describes the ways and methods of neuropsychological rehabilitation and indicates which ones may be useful from the perspective of the primary care physician

Brief description of the state of knowledge:
Neuropsychology is a branch of knowledge that is currently dynamically developing, although many medical circles still maintain the belief that physical recovery is far more important than the rehabilitation of cognitive impairments.

Summary:
The presented article describes the ways of neuropsychological rehabilitation of the damaged functions, and also shows several examples of exercises that can be performed by patients at home. The role of family physician in supporting and sustaining the effects of neuropsychological rehabilitation is emphasized, as well as the importance of the cooperation and exchange of knowledge between doctor and psychologist.
