ABSTRACT
Due to the reform of the health care system, health care units must compete with one another, search for competitive forms of activity, effectively manage the resources possessed and elements of production in accordance with the health demands of patients and market principles. The most
frequent cause for patients’ reporting to PHC unit is the need to contact a physicianThe survey was conducted among 943 patients reporting to public and non-public PHC units, which focused on two aspects of the functioning of these facilities. Various forms of patient registration with a physician proposed by PHC units were analysed, as well as the structure of
employment of higher medical staff, which would guarantee the constant care of a patient. The results of the study showed that statistically significant differences in functioning were observed between public and non-public PHC units. Non-public health care units, to a greater extent, practice various forms of registration with the first contact physician, which especially concerns the realization of home visits and obtaining a visit on a specific day at a specified hour. The structure of employment of higher medical staff in non-public PHC units, to a greater degree, allows the realization of each visit to a physician selected by a patient
