ABSTRACT
Obstruction of the celiac artery is a rare disease. The presented report describes the case of a 39-year old male with recurrent strong epigastric pain periodically radiating to the thorax, and weight loss which appeared 3 weeks before hospitalization. Gastroscopy of the upper part of the digestive system and abdominal computer tomography (CT) revealed no changes. Since the celiac trunk was barely visible in angio-CT, angiographic examination was performed. Finally, angiography confirmed celiac trunk obstruction and evident signs of collateral circulation. After four weeks of treatment with steroids the regression of symptoms and stenosis of the celiac trunk in angio-CT were noted.
