ABSTRACT
Introduction:
Health behaviour pattern can be regarded as a manifestation of the environment shaped (e.g. education) individual attitude towards health. Besides external factors, some individual personality traits seem to play a role in this phenomenon. The aim of the study was to assess the relationship between health behaviour pattern and type D personality, as well as depression among students of dietetics.

Material and Methods:
The study group consisted of female dietetics students of the Public Health Faculty at the Medical University of Silesia. The survey was conducted from April – May 2015 and covered 151 respondents. The following research tools were employed: Inventory of Health-Related Behaviours (IZZ), a DS14 scale and the Beck Depression Inventory

Results:
ype D personality washe study group consisted of female dietetics students of the Public Health Faculty at the Medical University of Silesia. The survey was conducted from April – May 2015 and covered 151 respondents. The following research tools were employed: Inventory of Health-Related Behaviours (IZZ), a DS14 scale and the Beck Depression Inventory. observed in 43% cases, type non-D in 19%, while the remaining students (38%) were classified as an intermediate type of personality. It has been found that the type of personality may be regarded as the discriminant factor as far as the health pattern behaviour is concerned, i.e. type D respondents displayed worse health behaviours. Also, the prevalence of depression was significantly higher in type D than in type non-D (43.08% vs. 7.14%). Further analysis also demonstrated that subjects with depression give less priority to health issues.

Conclusions:
Association between type D personality and inferior health behaviour pattern, and depression symptoms among dietetics students indicate that some educational programmes enhancing negative emotions, stress and strains management ability, must be intensified. Such measures may contribute to reduction in serious health problem in the future.
