STRESZCZENIE
W pracy dokonano oceny porównawczej dwóch rodzajów testów Western blot stosowanych jako testy potwierdzające w dwustopniowej diagnostyce boreliozy u ludzi.

Two types of commercial Western blot tests were evaluated, applied as confirmatory tests in the diagnostics of borreliosis in humans, i.e. tests containing exclusively recombinant antigen fractions and tests with antigen fractions from complete lysates and one recombinant fraction. It was found that Western blot tests IgM produced on the basis of recombinant antigens is a more sensitive test, compared to Western blot test IgM with complete antigen extract. The study showed that, irrespective of the type of antigen applied, Western blot tests detecting IgG antibodies at later stages of the disease have a greater diagnostic value, compared to Western blot tests detecting antibodies in fresh infection. It was also confirmed that it is necessary to perform two-stage laboratory diagnostics for borreliosis in the case of negative results obtained in ELISA IgG test.
